GEM LITERACY, led by Gemma Maddocks, is a South Auckland professional learning and development facilitator supporting educators from Year 1-8. Their focus on Structured Literacy is guided by the Science of Reading and Learning, which is an evidence-based approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling that is explicit, systematic and cumulative. GEM LITERACY is committed to raising teacher knowledge and capability to ensure more equitable outcomes for all learners, especially Māori and Pasifika.
